Larry Wiseman & Family,California USA

Having Sila as our driver for 9 straight days made our family trip to Bali perfect! Here are 3 great things about him:
1) He knows the country inside-and-out and knows all the shortcuts and best routes. He was instrumental in recommending places to visit and suggesting great restaurants and accommodations. Everything he recommended was a hit.
2) He was a terrific guide and educator. He taught us about the country and culture and patiently answered all our questions. His English skills are fabulous and we could converse with him effortlessly.
3 He has a wonderful personality and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time with him. He was fun and engaging and was patient and kind to our family -- especially to our 4 young children.
In discussing our trip, we all made a list of our favorite things about the trip. It didn't surprise us that all 7 of us listed Sila our driver as one of the trip's highlights! You'll love him.

Now is our turn to provide our comments on Sila! We're truly, truly pleased with Sila's services and are very glad to have engaged him as our driver for our honeymoon after reading the feedback here on Tripadvisor.
We booked Sila for 2 days of tour. Sila turned up punctually to meet us. He was so friendly and put us totally at ease. We didn't want to visit any temples at first but Sila explained to us about Balinese temples and that really helped us. He brought us to visit Uluwatu Temple where the kacek (fire) dance was. It was really beautiful! We simply loved it. Sila also brought us to have a look at the volcano and lake and explained the geography to us.
Sila provides very personal service - he is not just a driver. He would always ask us where we would like to go, buy or eat before proceeding. And he tries his very best to help make your trip as memorable as possible. He also gives great suggestions on restaurants and shopping! We loved the restaurants he brought us to and also bought some really nice paintings at the art gallery he recommended. He told us what to look out for especially the usual tourist traps and what to bargain for.
To us, we felt that Sila brought us to places that he loves to go to - not just because it's a job or we're tourists. We felt like we had a friend bringing us around to show us a land he loves. Sila is passionate about what he does and constantly looking at how he can improve as a guide to those who engages his services. We highly recommend Sila and would definitely use his services again!
Sila, we look forward to visiting your beautiful land soon and ku de ta anytime yah!!! =)

I agree wholeheartedly. I met (Nyoman) Sila 7 years ago when I booked a villa from Bali Villas. He was the driver assigned to us. I knew right away he was a special guy. He has a knack for knowing what Westerners will want to see and more importantly, what they won't. He avoids the tourist traps that actually tip out the drivers for bringing their guests by. Every year I hire him as my driver, and more recently my assistant buyer. I have no qualms leaving thousands of US dollars with him to finish paying off suppliers after I leave. His honesty is above reproach, his knowledge of languages is supurb, and his humanity is touching in this difficult world. He has become like a son to me and I would do anything for him, his lovely wife, and his new baby. Heck, I bought him the computer you can email him on! Cheers!

Aye, aye....choose Sila! Just got back today from Bali and Singapore but I just had to write about Sila (even if I am still suffering from jet lag!) We stayed at Ubud and because of Sila, my family and I have come to love this place.
Sila was terrific; I am so glad I found him through Trip Advisor. I must say that without Sila, our first trip to Bali would not have been as rich and unforgettable. He has that perfect combination of providing information when you need it but not inundating you with useless or dubious tips. He was unobtrusive yet well-informed. My husband is a talker, and he and Sila had great conversations regarding food, customs, politics, history, religion, etc! What a smart man! He also took us to the perfect beach in Nusa Dua where my boys could swim in safe waters. We also visited the rice terraces, watched the Monkey and Fire dances, and viewed good, high-quality art in a gallery that Sila recommended. He is completely trusthworthy: we left our bags and wallets in the car with him while we were at the beach. No worries, whatsoever, since Sila is very honest.
He was also fantastic with my boys. Even when we went to the beach and unfortunately tracked some sand in his car, he was so understanding about it. I tried to dust off as much sand as I could, but he told me not to worry about it. He was also very generous with ice cold water which is a lifesaver in the sultry weather!
Sila charged a flat rate regardless of what time we started or ended the day. So do give him a tip since he is so generous with his time!
Here's how you can reach Sila: baliwithsila@yahoo.com or www.geocities.com/baliwithsila/
Thanks, Sila, for a fantastic time in Ubud!!!

We were really happy with our driver Sila, who we found through Dean. After dealing with less than fully air conditioned vehicles and drivers eager to take you to dreadful restaurants that pay them commissions or their relatives not so great shops, Sila was like a breath of fresh air. He had good English and most importantly, was honest and helpful. All of his restaurant and shopping recommendations were great. Sila took us to very nice scenic temples and sites that were not so touristy. He was also very personally pleasant and cheerful even on our longest (12 hours) day. He charges a flat rate of $40/day (although we tipped him because we were so pleased with service). Best money we spent here. Sila is based between Ubud and Denpassar. I think he works anywhere from Ubud to the Kuta area. Just wanted to give him a call out because he really deserves it
